Urban villages are special architectural complex formed in the course of city development. Over recent years when the social and economic development has transformed cities, urban villages coexisting with cities have been seemingly separated from yet somehow integrated with them.

Socially adaptable, urban villages offer unique living space for ordinary people, for which they survive. Meanwhile, the issues they are faced with, including demolition, transformation, cultural protection, and diversified reproduction deserve more thoughts and attention. The work showcases the development and transformation of the city from the perspective of urban villages. Surreal approaches are adopted to demonstrate lives in urban villages with cold metals and extremely complex composite materials. Due to the complexity and varied forms of the buildings in urban villages, many issues had to be dealt with from the design to the completion of the work. What makes the work based on demolition interesting is the fact that its realistic and layered structure involves humanities, society, master plan, architectural design, sculpture, graphic design, etc. It is hoped that the work will give visitors different perceptions visually, and more importantly, provoke their thoughts on what is behind the work.
