After seventeen years of development since it was first hold by pioneers in the field of numbers of Chinese graphic designer , Graphic Design In China (GDC) has successfully established itself in China’s best permanent graphic design biennial in Shenzhen. Based on integration and with a diverse cultural flavor, GDC09 discards the old single design category; instead, it provides a wide variety of activities and includes more jury members. With the help of various opportunities, GDC has gone through significant changes in 2009. In terms of categories, in addition to its previous focus on only graphic design, GDC09 heavily expands its categories into six fields including graphic design, advertising, interaction design, space, products and synthetic art, which fully reflects the present interface situation in the design world. In terms of means, by communicating with every aspect in the design industry through various means like technology, marketing and arts, GDC09 creates a composite platform including competitions, lectures, forums, working camps and seminars, which heavily enrich the creativity exports of GDC09. Furthermore, GDC09 also integrates resources in every aspects of design field including design museums, design associations, media and designers, in an attempt to enhance its international influences.
The international jury for GDC09 mainly consists of the nucleus in today’s design world, including both doyens and voices from the new generation. Their evaluation criteria are differentiated by their different qualifications and values, making this event a warm collision and communication among ideas.
